Transparency, Accountability and Democracy are the core values of CSHRN

The strategic plan of CSHRN recognizes transparency, accountability and democracy as the core values for the network. These three values form the base for the implementation of all activities of CSHRN and its member organizations. They equally define the relationships between CSHRN and its national and international partners.
To further strengthen the realization of these values, the CSHRN secretariat together with its member organizations developed a program to build the capacities of its members on these topics. Such a program will enable the organizations to understand, practice and implement these values within their organization but also in all their human rights work.
CSHRN believes that a democratic structure, value based and well-organized guidelines, realistic terms of references for the staff and a clear commitment to human rights values can promote the culture of democracy, transparency and accountability within civil society and human rights organizations and thereby also within the Afghan society.

In the last few years, the government of Afghanistan has undertaken many efforts in order to implement all elements and values of democracy. The Civil Society and Human Rights Network (CSHRN), an active civil society network, is the first network to fully acknowledge the importance of access to information besides its other valuable programs.
